- cereal-free & molasses-free
marstall Faser-Light is a reduced starch and energy structural feed with a prebiotic effect.
marstall Faser-Light is perfect for all good doers which are in light work or no work at all.
Formulated to suit the needs of good doers, marstall Faser-Light does not contain cereals or molasses and is consequently very low in starch and sugar. This keeps insulin levels low and helps to feed the horse to support its metabolism.
Our marstall Faser-Light is rich in top quality fibre and chaff from Allgäu meadows. This is important as it satisfies the horse’s need to chew and the increased saliva production helps to neutralise acidity in the gut. The special marstall Previta-fibre gives this structural feed a prebiotic effect. The digestion of the different fibre compounds by microbes in the hindgut creates the valuable nutrients, essential for gut health and a good metabolism, that the horse needs: short-chain fatty acids. These maintain the cells of the gut and provide the horse with energy, without affecting blood sugar and insulin levels.
As well as valuable fibre, our marstall Faser-Light contains all the important minerals, trace elements and vitamins, making it the ideal reduced-calorie daily feed. In a mixed herd, marstall Faser-Light avoids jealousy, because even the good doers have something in their trough and the texture encourages chewing, making the feed last longer.
Long-term use of feeds containing high levels of starch and sugar may lead to weight gain and diet-related metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance, EMS or laminitis in good doers which are in no or light work. These horses should generally be given a cereal-free and molasses-free feed, not just as part of a weight loss diet. Meadow grass may also contain high levels of sugar, which is why grazing time should be restricted when necessary.

Feeding advice
All specified feed quantities are to be given throughout the day in several small feeds. Our recommendations assume a roughage intake (hay) of 1.5 kg per 100 kg body weight per day.
To retain muscle when following a weight reduction diet, we recommend supplemental feeding with marstall Amino-Muskel Plus.
