Aniseed
Anise seeds contain flavonoids and essential oils as medically active substances. The latter give aniseed its sweetish taste. Aniseed in the feed helps to liquefy mucus in the respiratory tract and thus facilitates expectoration. The oil of the seeds also increases the secretion of the digestive glands and bile in horses and has an antispasmodic effect on the muscles of the digestive tract.
