Experience with ProAir

The product testers all received our ProAir and tested it diligently.
Here you can find the reports after four and eight weeks!

What was tested?

ProAir from the marstall Vet-Line helps to support the natural function of the airways. Problems of the respiratory tract are among the most common diseases of horses. Feeding also plays an important role in the health of the respiratory tract.

The product packaging of marstall ProAiris attractively designed. Due to the given feeding information it was easy to find the optimal dosage for my pony. The bucket is solidly manufactured and keeps the supplementary feed nice and dry. The enclosed measuring spoon makes the dosage of ProAir enormously easier and enables a clean handling.

By feeding ProAir I hoped to improve the air supply of my pony. Especially on dusty riding arenas my pony quickly had to struggle with shortness of breath. As recommended on the packaging, I mixed the product with the concentrate or mash. In the Mash it was eaten immediately, mixed under the concentrate, she did not eat it immediately. However, after a few days she got used to the smell of marstall ProAir and always ate everything willingly.

The respiratory problems have changed for the better since she started feeding marstall ProAir. After the 10 day cure of ProAir I have noticed significant improvement of symptoms on dusty riding arenas. Even during the especially hot days Little had no problems with her breathing. Since the addition of ProAir she has not had to inhale once. Also other changes were clearly visible. Little is much more willing to perform, more awake and more enduring. Furthermore we could finally notice a weight gain. Little was too thin for a long time, despite feeding hay cobs.

The product has more than fulfilled my expectations, I haven't seen my pony so fit for a long time. The respiratory problems that brought her to the equine clinic last summer have indeed come back this year, but have subsided since the administration of ProAir.

I hope that the positive effect of ProAir will continue in the second test phase of ProAir and that it will continue to support Little so well, even if he is fed less.

Since my first test report, we haven't changed anything except for one shearing. Little's training was nice and constant throughout the summer and she was ready to perform throughout.

The symptoms of the respiratory problems have remained largely absent. We added the marstall ProAir to the measures already applied (wet hay, Miscantus bedding) as supplementary feed and kept it from the beginning.

Little has continued to put on weight and has now reached her optimal weight again. She eats the ProAir without any problems, I simply sprinkle it over her muesli.

I am very satisfied with the development of my horse. Our veterinarian is very happy with her condition and she was also very pleased that we only had to inhale very rarely. I will definitely continue to feed marstall ProAir. Thanks to the small feeding amounts a bucket lasts very long.

ProAir has met and exceeded my expectations! I am always a bit sceptical about supplementary feed, but ProAir has really delivered what it promised. Easy to dose, efficient in addition and a real support for horses with respiratory diseases. I definitely recommend it!

marstall ProAirhas a super comfortable size, which can be stored practically and very easily re-closed anywhere. So I could easily store ProAir in my cupboard. The dosage information is described very clearly and of course the measuring spoon, which is included directly, is also practical for feeding. We started feeding on 10.07. and used up the bucket exactly on 10.08. So perfect for feeding, as described 10 days intensive cure and then afterwards for maintenance. Since I didn't know 100% how much my horse weighs (he is a KWPN with a diameter of 1.70m), I fed about 4 - 4.5 measuring spoons per day for the intensive treatment and afterwards really well-intentioned 2.0 measuring spoons (on some days 2.5 measuring spoons). So I was really surprised how well you can get along with the contents of the package. The price-performance ratio for me was top.

My horse has had coughing symptoms for a few weeks now, or coughs when we start work, mostly when we start trotting and riding forwards and downhill. Right at the beginning I had this checked by the vet and had already added fennel honey and ribwort to the feed. The vet couldn't find anything wrong, because lungs and larynx sound good and he didn't react even when pressure was applied to the larynx. Nevertheless, the coughing remained combined with a slight clear nasal discharge after the strain and a slightly increased breathing. He did not cough at all in the stable, in the box and also when finishing. So I was grateful for marstall ProAir, as I was already looking for a suitable product. So at the beginning of feeding I was curious to see how quickly an improvement would come about. Of course it is ingenious that we even got 2 buckets from ProAir. If I had not noticed any improvement, I would have called the vet again in any case. All in all I already promised myself that at least after the first 4 weeks the symptoms would get much better.

marstall Produkt-Test ProAir

ProAir has a pleasant smell and can be easily distributed in the lining. I fed it either in the mash or in the soaked hay cobs so that I could feed it every day without interruption. Even with a smaller amount of food and the increased amount of marstall ProAir (during the intensive cure).

Since the beginning of feeding no other circumstances have changed in our house. We are in full training and had competition on three of the weekends. We have not changed the feed either. My horse comes to the pasture every day, stands in an airy stable alley with window and gets good quality hay and straw. Nevertheless it is very dusty due to the very warm weather during the last weeks on the riding ground and the racetrack, etc., as well as the humidity is very high on some days (due to the heat), which influenced the coughing more and more before

During the first days of feeding, a distinct cough was still noticeable at work (riders/longing). In addition, my horse's respiratory tract was very irritated by the constant dust and dry air, so that the cough really did occur every day during exertion. Since feeding with marstall ProAir and especially after the first 15 days a very clear improvement is noticeable. I find intensive treatment in the first 10 days especially great.

After the intensive treatment it is clearly visible that nasal discharge has completely disappeared. Also the breathing during riding is back to "normal". My horse's performance is constant and it is no longer noticeable that on some days he is more stressed by breathing. In the last few days he has not coughed at all. On 30.07. the last cough was audible during the strain, but on this day it was very stuffy and dusty, so that he coughed several times while lunging. Since August I haven't heard him coughing yet and I am very curious if this will remain so with the second cure with ProAir. After 4 weeks of application of marstall ProAir in the feed there are hardly or no symptoms recognizable.

After the first 4 weeks ProAir has already fully met my expectations. I am super satisfied with the product, the feeding instructions and the best thing for me as a tournament rider is that marstall ProAir is doping-free and, compared to many other cough remedies, I do not have to stop using it before the tournament and can feed continuously, even during the tournament season and there are no restrictions. A very big plus! 😊 I would clearly recommend ProAir and buy the product directly when my horse shows the next cough sign.

In the next test phase I expect the slight cough to disappear completely and I am currently convinced that the use of ProAir will work.

Since the feeding of marstall ProAir nothing has changed for us or for my horse. The feeding has remained the same and also the training has not changed. We have the last tournaments of the outdoor season ahead of us at the end of September, which means we are fully in training.

My horse's respiratory problems have completely disappeared after 8 weeks of feeding with ProAir. Also the symptoms like the increased breathing during exercise and also the snot from the nose have completely disappeared. Before feeding with ProAir, I strongly considered having the vet come a second time, as the condition has not changed. Now he is fit and as written above, the cough has completely disappeared. 😊 Overall, my horse's condition has improved considerably. Even with the hot temperatures with dusty riding arenas in the past weeks, the cough has stayed away and my horse has always been fit and motivated and has performed consistently.

I am super happy with the development, both from training and physical condition. He is fit, active and full of energy and is easy to work with every day. All around everything is super. 😊 In any case I want to continue feeding ProAir, but I would stop feeding now and wait to see if the coughing comes back, especially now when autumn starts. When the next cough or already with the next symptoms ProAir is my first choice from now on. ProAir has more than fulfilled my expectations and I am really positively surprised that the symptoms have completely disappeared and he is fit again without any complaints.

I would definitely recommend it! Thank you very much for the great test phase!

The product packaging of marstall ProAir is very understandable. The black bucket is very nice for the stable. A bright labelling field might be practical, especially because of the 10 day cure.

I had expected a slight improvement in breathing from the feeding of ProAir. My horse has been somewhat susceptible since the diagnosis of COB. He has eaten ProAir well in the marstall Condicion with some oil. But a pellet form would generally be more pleasant.

Last year the coughing started at the beginning of the harvesting/drying period. After about 14 days I noticed a first improvement. Breathing has improved during the work.He didn't cough despite harvest and dry pasture, unlike the "cough buddy" next door.  Also the condition has improved thanks to the better/again normal breathing. So the product has fulfilled my expectations.

In the second test phase, we spent a holiday week in the "Heide" in Germany, where he also stood on straw during this time. Also the load was of course a bit higher during this time due to the sandy soil. Ibero has a normal breathing again, is more efficient and also "fresher" on the road again. Before, he used to like to breathe quickly with a little more nostrils when he was a bit more stressed (in gallop), which I didn't know from him before his illness. Also the breathing was a bit more short, which is now back to normal.

Nothing much has changed in the second test phase, but the gain for me is what happened in the first test phase and he is still without symptoms, despite the findings slight COBD with sensitivity to dust. We can also still feed the hay dry from the hay net, which is a huge gain for me.

I am very satisfied with the development of my horse since I started feeding marstall ProAir, he is back to the way he was before the diagnosis. And above all, he has not suffered any summer deterioration, on the contrary. I will now take a break from feeding him, as he is in such a good mood from his breathing. But I will definitely take a cure at least once or twice a year to anticipate the whole problem. In any case, I recommend marstall ProAir and I already have. Especially for the "patients" who always have to struggle with the sensitivity to dust (in summer) it is a great product, especially for prevention in critical times.

The product has more than fulfilled my expectations, I had actually expected only a slight improvement, if any, but Ibero is super free breathing and does not cough at all, despite the summer dust/fine dust, which has always been the case in the last few years.

Many thanks to the marstall team for letting me be part of this test series. It was a huge win for me and Ibero. I admit, I don't know if I would have tested another product after having already invested so much in supplementary feed and medicine without this huge gain for us. I didn't even need to inhale this summer, the good FlexiNeb is now standing unused in the corner and I am very happy about that. I was also able to leave it at feeding dry hay, which I had hardly expected, but it works and is simply great for both of us.

The product packaging of marstall ProAir is very easy to understand. I find the packaging ok, even if it is a bit unfriendly with the black. By feeding ProAir I expected an improvement of the condition and a significant reduction of medication. I fed the ProAir in soaked lucerne cobs and it was eaten without any problems. Unfortunately I have not noticed any real change so far.

Note from marstall:

As our colleague Sophia had very good experiences using ProAir with her old horse, even with allergies, we were very curious about the result - even though ProAir is not actually specifically designed for allergies. Therefore we gave Nicole the opportunity to test our ProAir.

Unfortunately, unlike Pupsy from our colleague, it did not work for Nicole and the effects of the allergies remained the same.

That is of course very pity.

The symptoms of respiratory problems have improved. The cough is all but gone for the moment. Sometimes he still coughs a little when he eats. But I think it's because he's eating too fast. So all in all, great. Just what I hoped for. As a further change I could see a shiny coat, but I cannot say yet if this is due to ProAir.

I am more than satisfied with marstall ProAir and it has even exceeded my expectations. I thought there would be a product again now, which smells sharply of all kinds of herbs and my eyes burn as soon as I opened the bucket, which would mean that my fussy stallion would not eat it again. But he eats the ProAir with pleasure and without hesitation.

The product packaging, the picture and the colour selection of marstall ProAir immediately suggest that it must be a product for breathing. Just like the imprint Vet-Line, which promises a high-quality product. The font is very easy to read in terms of size, very exemplary in contrast to other products partly.

However, I found the imprint "not ADMR compliant" much too small and we searched a long time. Whereby it is probably intended that this hint is not written large deterrent on the front. (outside Germany: EADCM conform acc. FEI.)

I find the description with the imprint "marstall ProAir - the protection shield for the species paths" very well described. I think it is good that it is pointed out once again that feed and stable must of course be unpolluted, which is something the riders sometimes don't even think about. In winter they put their horses in a completely closed stable with ammonia vapours, dust and mould in the air and wonder why the horses cough and get sick.

It has a confidence-inspiring effect for me that the gentleman who carried out the scientific studies is described and depicted again.

That the plastic bucket was chosen is not really mine. I would probably rather choose a product on the shelf that is already packed in (coated) paper towels, like so many products in this category at our feed store.

The main reason for this is that this bucket is too small to be used as a feeding bucket etc. again, because even my pony with the nose did not fit in it.

My pony ate the marstall ProAir very well, quite normally into our muesli. Here we have chosen one extra, which is not additional for the respiratory tract, so as not to distort the result.

Here it should also be said that my pony accepted the powder much better than the cough juices/bronchial juices that are available. They seem to taste very sweet and extremely herbal, as far as I could judge from the smell of the juices.

The product has shown what it can do. Now I hope that when the temperatures drop again, the weather will be unstable and cold, that the second test phase will continue so positively and that he will be able to maintain his good performance in autumn. Because then the conditions will be a bit more difficult than in summer.
